What Xlendi is
Xlendi is a small fishing village turned tourist town on Gozo’s south coast, set around a tight inlet with a promenade, restaurants and a small swimming area. It’s busier than most of Gozo but still has a relaxed feel compared to the resort areas of Malta. By boat it’s a useful lunch stop with food and amenities right on the waterfront.
Anchoring
Sand and weed bottom in 5 to 10 metres just outside the inlet. Holding is reasonable. The inlet itself is narrow and lined with small fishing boats, no real space for visiting yachts. The bay is sheltered from north through east. Southerly winds bring swell straight in.
Practical notes
Tender ashore at the village waterfront. Restaurants line the promenade, casual to mid-range, with several specialising in fresh fish. The Xlendi Cliffs to the west and the sea caves between Xlendi and Wied il-Ghasri are worth exploring by tender. A useful pairing with Mgarr ix-Xini for a south-coast Gozo day with a more developed lunch option.
