Why St Peter’s Pool gets the Instagram traffic
St Peter’s Pool is a natural inlet carved into the limestone of Delimara peninsula, with flat rock platforms surrounding water so clear it looks unreal. Cliff jumping into the pool is the activity, with jumps from various heights depending on courage. The combination of the rock formations, the water clarity and the photographable layout has made this one of the most-shared Malta swim spots online.
Anchoring
The pool itself is too small and rocky for boat access. Anchor offshore in the wider bay between Delimara and Marsaxlokk, in 6 to 12 metres on sand and weed, then tender in. South-coast position gives good shelter from the dominant summer northwest. Easterly weather makes it uncomfortable and from the south, untenable.
Practical notes
In summer the pool is heavily crowded from late morning until evening. Early morning is the only realistic window for a quiet swim. Rocky platforms have no facilities, no shade, no kiosk. Bring water, sun cover and proper shoes for the rocks. Combine with Marsaxlokk for lunch and Pretty Bay for a swim, and you’ve got a proper south-coast morning that beats any of the north-coast classics for sheer drama.
