What San Niklaw is
San Niklaw Bay is on Comino’s east side and is the bay associated with the now closed-for-redevelopment Comino Hotel. The beach is small, sand and rocks mixed, with the hotel building dominating the backdrop. The bay is sheltered, less famous than Blue Lagoon, and an option for owners wanting an east-side Comino anchorage.
Anchoring
Sand bottom in 4 to 8 metres. Holding is good. The bay is sheltered from west through south. Easterly winds bring chop straight in. The shore drops off relatively quickly, so you can anchor reasonably close in.
Practical notes
With the hotel closed for major redevelopment, the bay is quieter than it used to be. No active beach facilities. The swim is fine, the snorkelling along the rocky edges is decent, and the bay sees less traffic than the lagoons. A useful east-side option when the wind direction makes the western anchorages awkward.
