Where Qbajjar fits
Qbajjar sits immediately west of Marsalforn on Gozo’s north coast, with a small rocky bay, a strip of beach kiosks and a quieter atmosphere than its busier neighbour. The famous salt pans cut into the rock platforms run along the shoreline here and are visible from the water. By boat it’s an easy hop from Marsalforn for a quieter anchor.
Anchoring
Sand and rock mix in 4 to 8 metres. Holding is patchy because of rock, set carefully. North-coast exposure means settled conditions are needed. In summer northwest the bay is workable, in fresh northerlies it’s the wrong place to be.
Practical notes
A few kiosks and casual restaurants serve the local crowd. The salt pans on the rocky platforms are still worked seasonally and worth a walk. The swim is good, the snorkelling along the rock edges is decent. A useful pair with Marsalforn for a Gozo morning, with the mix of facilities at one and quieter water at the other.
