What Marsalforn is
Marsalforn is Gozo’s main north-coast resort town, with a small sandy beach, a long rocky shoreline, restaurants, hotels and a holiday-rental market that fills it through summer. From the water it’s the most developed bay on Gozo’s north coast, with the trade-offs that brings, less unspoilt than San Blas but with proper amenities right on the waterfront.
Anchoring
Sand and weed bottom in 5 to 10 metres in the bay. Holding is reasonable. The bay opens to the north so northerly weather brings swell in. Settled summer conditions are usually fine. A reliable Gozo lunch stop when you want food and shops on shore rather than a remote anchorage.
Practical notes
Full facilities, restaurants, supermarkets, dive shops and water sports operators. Tender ashore at the small slipway or beach. The salt pans west of the bay are worth a walk. The swim is fine but unremarkable, the food on the waterfront ranges from average to genuinely good. A useful base for a Gozo cruising day if you don’t want to commit to a remote anchorage and need provisions.
