A bay most people don’t know
Imgiebah sits east of Mistra Bay on the north coast, tucked beneath Selmun. It’s a small bay with a tiny pebble and sand patch, low rocky shores and limited road access via a rough track that puts off all but the determined. From the water it’s a peaceful anchorage that’s almost always less crowded than its neighbours.
Anchoring
Sand patches in rocky bottom in 4 to 8 metres. Holding is reliable in sand, hopeless in rock, so pick carefully and check the anchor by snorkelling down to it. The bay opens to the north so northwesterly winds bring some chop, but the depth limits how big the swell can build. In settled summer conditions the bay is excellent.
Practical notes
No facilities. The track down from the road carries occasional walkers but otherwise the bay is yours. Excellent water clarity, good snorkelling along the rocky edges. A quiet alternative when Mistra and Mellieha are crowded, with the trade-off that you’ve got nothing on shore beyond the beauty of the place itself, which for many owners is exactly the appeal.
