What sets Ghajn Tuffieha apart
Ghajn Tuffieha sits immediately south of Golden Bay and is the prettier of the two. Red clay cliffs, golden sand, undeveloped backdrop, no hotels overlooking the bay. From land it’s accessed only by a long flight of steps from the car park, which keeps the crowds smaller than Golden Bay even in peak season.
Anchoring
Similar to Golden Bay, sand bottom in 4 to 8 metres with good holding. Same west-coast exposure, same morning-good afternoon-rough pattern in summer northwesterlies. The bay is slightly tighter than Golden Bay, which means it can fill up quickly when conditions are right.
The headland between Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay offers some shelter when the wind has an easterly component, making this slightly the better choice when the breeze isn’t pure northwest.
Practical notes
No road access right to the beach, so the only people on the sand are the ones willing to walk down the steps or anchor a boat. That’s the whole appeal. Basic kiosk, no full restaurant. The water clarity is exceptional, the snorkelling along the rocky edges is genuinely good, and the swim is one of the best on the west coast. Pair with Gnejna further south for a proper west-coast cruise day.
