What Armier is
Armier Bay sits on the north tip of Malta, between Mellieha and the channel to Comino. It’s a sandy beach with a strong local following, lots of summer huts and beach kiosks, and a relaxed informal feel that’s miles away from the polished resort beaches further south. By boat it’s a useful stop on the way to or from Comino.
Anchoring
Sand bottom in 3 to 7 metres across the bay, with reasonable holding. The bay is shallow at the head and shelves out gradually. Northwesterly winds blow over the headland and create some chop in the bay but the holding is good enough that boats stay put. Easterly winds make the bay uncomfortable. The neighbouring Little Armier just to the west is smaller and tighter but offers similar conditions.
Practical notes
Kiosks, beach bars and parking on the beach side. The water is clear and the swimming is genuinely good. Less crowded than Mellieha or Golden Bay because the road access is less direct. Tender ashore is easy. A useful lunch stop on a Comino day, with the option to anchor here while the lagoon’s circus calms down before heading over later in the afternoon.
